Paddy to be purchased on MSP from Nov 15 to Jan 31 in Ch’garh

Chhattisgarh Chief minister Dr  Raman Singh on Tuesday presided over a Cabinet meeting in which several crucial decisions regarding procurement prices of paddy and ‘Makka’  were taken. 

The Cabinet decided to implement Minimum Support Price (MSP) for paddy from November 15 to 31 January 2017. Similarly the Minimum Support Price for ‘Makka’ will be from November 15 to 31 March 2017. 

The price of purchase of paddy and ‘Makka’ will be done as per the guidelines of the Union Government –paddy (common) Rs 1470 per quintal, paddy ‘Grade-A’ Rs 1510 per quintal, ‘Makka’ -Rs 1365 per quintal. The decision was taken regarding the purchase of paddy by the Primary Agriculture Co-Operative Societies’ procurement centers.

Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Minister Punnulal Mohale said that the ‘Fail’ paddy seed will be purchased on Minimum Support Price  from March 1 2017 to April 30 2017. 

Mohale said that the Collectors of the concerned districts will deploy checking squads to keep vigil on the procurement and sale of paddy from neighbouring states on Minimum  Support Price (MSP).

“The import of paddy from the neighbouring states during November 1 to April 30, 2017 could be done with the explicit permission of Commissioner/Director of Food and Civil Supplies Department. There is no need for permission to import super fine paddy which is priced over Rs 1700  a quintal. The District Food Officer has to be informed by the importer of paddy,” he said.
