One-way system on Parama Island flyover begins

The Kolkata Police started the one-way system on Parama Island flyover to avoid traffic congestion.

Commissioner of police Surajit Kar Purakayastha said from 9 am to 9 pm, the traffic would move towards bypass and from 9 pm to 9 am, traffic from both ways would be allowed.

It may be recalled that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had visited the flyover to conduct a survey.

Traffic jams during the morning and evening peak hours have become a regular feature since the flyover was opened on 9 October by Banerjee.

As the arm that would connect the flyover with Congress Exhibition Road has not yet been constructed, all the vehicles are converging at Park Circus, causing massive traffic jams.
