North MCD hoists 104 ft national flag

In order to mark the 70th anniversary of Quit India Movement, North Delhi Municipal Corporation on Tuesday hoisted a 104 feet high national flag at the historical Town Hall in Chandni Chowk area.

The Corporation claimed that the move will instill a spirit of nationalism and patriotism within citizens as it is a salute to the service and valour of the country’s freedom fighters.

The flag was hoisted by the Union Science and Technology Minister Dr Harshvardhan. Mayor and Commissioner of the North MCD, area MLA and the Deputy Commissioner of Police also graced the occasion.

On this occasion, Harshvardhan said that Mahatma Gandhi’s personality has a great role in our lives and by taking some petty resolves in our daily lives, much can be contributed by citizens in building the nation.

He said that he was born in Chandni Chowk and hosting the Tricolour here is a matter of pride for him.

Local MLA Alka Lamba said that one may have any religion but the National flag has only one religion. She said that it is very fortunate of being born in a free and independent India. She said that the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters are incomparable.
