Next car-free day on nov 22, says gopal rai

Delhi Transport Minister Gopal Rai On Thursday said that Second Car-Free Day will be held on November 22, at Dwarka. He further said that Car-Free Day will be organised on road no-202 at Dwarka, between Sector 3-13 to Sector 7-9. The duration of the car-free day will be 8 am to 4 pm. “The main event will be organised at the DDA sports complex. To ensure participation of people, human chain will be formed at the Car-Free Day route,” said Rai. On car-free day, a cycle rally will be organised on the route similar to the one earmarked for Raahgiri events at Dwarka. The Main participants in the cycle rally will be IAS, IPS, DANICS, DANIPS association officers and others. The cycle rally will be started from Dwarka Sports Complex. Total distance of the rally will be about 6 km. The NCC and NSS Volunteers will participate in the car-free day event. Rai said that on Thursday the citizens of Delhi are facing very high levels of pollution in the city. It is the prime duty of the government to reduce pollution and traffic congestion in the national Capital. Use of public transport is an important alternative for reducing the use of private vehicles thereby reducing the congestion and air pollution. He further said that extra buses with increased frequency will be deployed on this route for public convenience. Except cars, all public transport will be allowed on this stretch. Our Correspondent
