The Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and UCPN-Maoist also formed a six-member task force to convene the national political conference before September 11, former prime minister and senior leader of CPN-UML Madhav Kumar Nepal, who also took part in the meeting, said.
The parties include the breakaway faction of UCPN-Maoist party, the CPN-Maoist, which had boycotted last year’s Constituent Assembly polls. The national political conference was the major demand put forward by the CPN-Maoist for joining the Constitution- drafting process.
‘This is a positive development towards forging consensus among the political parties for drafting the constitution within the stipulated time frame of mid-January next year by sorting out all the differences,’ Nepal said.
The three major parties on Thursday held meeting with the CPN-Maoist, which boycotted the November 19, 2013 Constituent Assembly elections, at the prime minister’s residence in an attempt to encourage the party led by hardliner Mohan Vaidya to join the Constitution-drafting process.
