‘NDA wants to keep Jat quota issue pending before court’

The All India coordinator of ‘Jat Arakshan Bachao Maha Andolan’ on Friday said the review petition filed by the NDA Government in the apex court regarding inclusion of Jats in the OBC list is an
“eye-wash” as the Centre wants to keep the matter pending in court.

At a press conference convened here, All India coordinator Dharam Veer Chowdhary today said that the Supreme Court verdict of setting aside the 2014 notification of the then UPA government to include Jats in the central list of Other backward Classes (OBC) in nine states to grant them quota benefits is a setback for the community.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had assured the Jat delegation members that <g data-gr-id="21">central</g> government will try to find out a solution and NDA government has moved a review petition before apex court, he said.

“But the government is not taking <g data-gr-id="17">further</g> initiative and wants to keep the matter in abeyance,” he alleged.

A ‘Jagrukta Abhiyan’ (awareness drive) will be launched in nine states where a ‘Mahasabha’ will tell the Jat masses that NDA government wants to keep the matter pending before the apex court and the filing of review petition is?merely an eye-wash, Chowdhary added.

A ‘Maha-Panchayat’ will also be organised at <g data-gr-id="18">Manota</g> village in Murad Nagar to decide the future course of agitation.
