Welcome any probe, will cooperate: Ibobi Singh

New Delhi: As the CBI went around the country, conducting raids at the premises of former Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, the Congress politician was in New Delhi for a protest with respect to the Citizenship Amendment Bill and the way the Naga-Accord talks were being held.

Ibobi was made aware of the raids and spoke to reporters, saying he welcomed any investigation by the CBI in the case. "I welcome it. I have also said that if they think that I have committed something wrong only after investigation it can be proved."

He also said that he would welcome any kind of probe into his activities by any agency, be it the CBI, ED or the NIA and that they are always welcome. "I will give them fullest support," he said.

Meanwhile, the Congress spokesperson in Manipur, Ningombam Bupenda Meitei also made a statement to media persons, saying that the action against Ibobi was directed because he had chosen to protest against the Citizenship Amendment Bill and Naga Accord at Jantar Mantar in the Capital. "Any action to scuttle our democratic voices will remain unsuccessful as we struggle with the people of Manipur to protect and safeguard Manipur," he added.
