UP: Woman accuses SP worker of rape, attempts self-immolation along with hubby
Lucknow: A woman, along with her husband, attempted self-immolation on Wednesday accusing a Samajwadi Party (SP) worker of raping her.
The incident took place near Vidhan Sabha in Lucknow.
A woman's husband has accused the SP worker of threatening and forcing them to withdraw the case.
"She was raped in 2015 and no action has been taken yet. He is threatening us to withdraw the case. I request his immediate arrest," reported ANI quoting the victim's husband.
Last month, the BJP MLA Kuldeep Senger was accused of raping his maid's daughter on the pretext of marrying her.
In a complaint to Bareilly SSP Kalanidhi Naithani, the victim has claimed that Kushagra Sagar, the MLA from Bisauli Assembly constituency in Badayun district, had raped her when she was minor.
In April, police arrested Kuldeep Senger after a woman accused him of rape in June last year. Currently, he is lodged in Sitapur District Jail.
