Two wanted criminals arrested after encounter in Lucknow
Lucknow: Two notorious criminals were arrested after encounter with police late on Wednesday night in Hanskheda area under Para police station jurisdiction.
Additional Superintendent of Police Sarvesh Kumar Mishra informed that police received information about two-wanted criminals who were active in Hanskhed area. Acting on a tip off, police team tried to intercept two motorbike-borne criminals near newly-constructed government apartment in Hanskheda area but both of them opened fire unprovoked, leaving two police constables injured.
In retaliatory firing, one criminal was injured while other surrendered before police. Injured criminal was later identified as dreaded criminal Naresh Bhati, carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 on his arrest while the other one who surrendered was Kuldeep Jat. Two constables Arvind and Mukesh were also injured in exchange of fire during encounter.
Mr Mishra said that a pistol, a 9 mm carbine, a motorbike and a country-made pistol were recovered from them. Arrested criminals were active in western UP and many criminal cases were registered against them in police stations of Gautam Budhh Nagar.
Injured were taken to the hospital, the ASP said, adding that further probe into the matter was on.
