Rains in Himachal bring down mercury

Shimla: Rains across Himachal Pradesh on Sunday brought down mercury by one to two notches, weather officials said. The weather department has forecast thundershowers at isolated places in the state till Wednesday.
Shimla and nearby areas saw moderate showers. "The entire state saw a good spell of rain, bringing the temperatures down considerably," an official of the meteorological office here told IANS.
Shimla recorded a maximum of 23.9 degrees Celsius as against Saturday's high of 24.1 degrees.
Likewise, the day temperature at Dharamsala stood at 29.4 degrees Celsius, while it was 19.6 degrees in Kalpa in Kinnaur district and 39 degrees, the highest in the state, in Una town.
Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district was the coldest in the state with a low of 3.9 degree Celsius, whereas the maximum was 17.7 degrees.
Picturesque tourist resort Kufri saw 11 mm of rainfall, while Sarkhaghat in Mandi district recorded state's highest rainfall at 34 mm.
