PM Matru Vandana Yojana scheme touches one-crore mark: Officials

New Delhi: The government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a major achievement to its side as the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY), a flagship scheme of the Centre for pregnant women and lactating mothers has achieved a significant milestone by crossing one crore beneficiaries.

As per a senior official, the total amount disbursed to the beneficiaries under the PMMVY scheme has crossed Rs 4,000 crore.

Among the states having maximum number of beneficiaries of PMMVY, Uttar Pradesh the tops the chart with 17,79,558 number of beneficiaries amounts to followed by Madhya Pradesh with 12,51,714 beneficiaries and Maharashtra with 9,87,467 beneficiaries of the scheme, which is a direct benefit transfer (DBT) scheme.

Under the scheme, cash benefits are provided to pregnant women in their bank account directly to meet enhanced nutritional needs and partially compensate for wage loss. The scheme was implemented in July 2017.

Other states that have implemented the scheme have also performed well. As per the official data released on Thursday, Rajasthan has 8,35,630 beneficiaries, Andhra Pradesh has 6,85,334 beneficiaries, Bihar has 5,41,974 beneficiaries, 4,90,969 beneficiaries have been benefitted from the scheme in Gujarat, West Bengal has 4,53,010 beneficiaries, Kerala has 3,24,069 beneficiaries, Haryana has 3,01,096 beneficiaries, Assam has 2,79,664 beneficiaries of the scheme, Chhattisgarh has 2,51,144 beneficiaries and Jharkhand has 2,48,012 beneficiaries, Delhi has added 1,05,391 beneficiaries under the scheme.

There is no scope of misrepresentation of facts as the implementation of the scheme is closely monitored by the central and state governments through PMMVY-CAS, a web-based software application.
