NCR holds meeting with public services committee on Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj

New Delhi: A meeting was held in North Central Railway headquarters between GM/NCR and Passenger Services Committee (PSC) of the Railway Board, chaired by GM/NCR Rajiv Chaudhry. The PSC was headed by Chairman PSC, Ramesh Chandra Ratn.

During the meeting a presentation on the preparations of the Indian Railways for the ensuing Kumbh Mela-2019, scheduled to be organized in Prayagraj from January 2019, was given to the PSC by ADRM (OP)/ALD Anil Kumar Dwivedi.

It was informed in the presentation that a grand total of 1762 special trains are proposed to be run during the entire duration of the Kumbh Mela (972 outwards &790 inwards). A detailed overview about the infrastructure-enhancement works done by the Railways in the Prayagraj District-at a total cost of Rs 700 Crore-was also given to the PSC.

The PSC appreciated the infrastructural works done by the Railways and also the detailed plans that have been drawn up for running the special trains and also for ensuring the easy availability of tickets-in particular unreserved tickets-to the passengers and devotees coming to Prayagraj during the period of the Kumbh Mela.

Under the technological initiatives, the PSC was informed about the recently launched 'Rail Kumbh Seva 2019' mobile application as well as the 'UTS on mobile app'. Both the apps drew great appreciation from the PSC, which

suggested that both these applications should be publicised to the maximum.
