Himachal CM slams Oppn MLAs for unruly scenes in Assembly

Dharamshala: Slamming the opposition MLAs for unruly scenes in state assembly on day-2 of winter session, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Tuesday lost his temper and told the Congress not to make 'Dev Bhumi' Himachal as Punjab or Bihar.

His outburst came after leader of Opposition Mukesh Agnihotri tried to disrupt the House and created ruckus in the House over Speaker Dr Rajeev Bindal of diluting Congress MLAs' notice for adjournment, moved on Monday .

"What is all this happening? Himachal Pradesh is known as Dev Bhumi. Leave it as Himachal and do'nt make it Punjab or Bihar. You should be ashamed of your behaviour and mind your language. You (Congress) have lost all elections as even could not win a single booth in the Lok Sabha poll.Talk sense in the House and conduct yourself with decency," he said.

The clash of words came when Agnihotri defied the Speaker on his decision to allow a debate on Global Investors meet on plea of the BJP MLAs, not allowing the Congress MLAs' adjournment motion .

Carrying placards, the Opposition MLAs had entered the Well of the House to hold demonstration raising slogans before staging a walk-out. They also managed to smuggle garlands of onions to highlight unprecedented price rise .

Thakur said Himachal Pradesh assembly had maintained high traditions. This House has its own values which needs to be protected .

Thakur even dared the Congress to test its popularity in the polls, once again despite having suffered jolt in the assembly polls in 2017, Lok Sabha in 2019 and two bypoll including Dharamshala.

He suggested for viewing the conduct of the Opposition MLAs seriously and also proposing action if its amount of violation of the rules.
