Enforcement officer of IPFO arrested for graft

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation arrested on Friday an Enforcement Officer, Employee Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), Vadodara (Gujarat) for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs five lakh from the complainant.

Officials said the accused officer demanded a sum of Rs 20 lakh from a builder in Vadodara for passing favourable order in the matter of regular employees of the builder for which PF was to be deposited and for clearing the notice issued by EPFO.

After negotiation, the accused reduced his demand to Rs. 10 lakh and agreed

to accept 1st installment of Rs. 5 lakh. CBI laid a trap and caught the accused while accepting a

bribe of Rs. 5 lakh. A case

has been registered against him.
