Dead Bihar doctor appointed as head of district hospital

New Delhi: In a bizarre case, Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey had appointed a dead doctor to head a district hospital.

The order was issued on Thursday, while the minister was attending International Yoga Day celebrations.

The doctor in question is Nagendra Bhushan Singh, who died on May 10 while on duty at a government hospital in Dumraon — a sub-division in Buxar district.

The government promoted Singh, the departed soul, and shifted him to Nawada as superintendent of the district hospital through a transfer order dated June 21. As per the order, Singh was also directed to join the new assignment at the earliest.
