CBI books former Manipur CM and three retd IAS official in Rs 332 crore embezzlement

New Delhi: The CBI has registered a corruption case against the former Chief Minister of Manipur, O Iboi Singh and two of his former Chief Secretaries in a Rs 332 crore government fund misappropriation case, officials here said on Friday.

The Central Bureau of Investigation is also conducting raids at nine places across the country in connection with the case, including the premises Congress politician Iboi Singh and the other accused.

The raids are ongoing in Aizwal, Imphal and Gurugram.

According to the central agency, while Singh was holding the post of Chairman in the Manipur Development Society, he along with DS Poonia (IAS), former Chief Secretary of Manipur and PC Lawmkunga (IAS), former Chief Secretary of Manipur conspired to misappropriate funds to the tune of Rs 332 crore out of the allocated Rs 518 crore.

The CBI has alleged that the funds were misappropriated for almost a decade beginning from June 2009 to July 2017.
