BIS initiates paperless licence under CRS

New Dehi: As a part of government's initiative for ease of doing business, Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has done away with granting of licence, inclusion, and renewal in paper form for electronics and information technology goods falling under its compulsory regiration scheme and replaced them with electronically generated letters with a unique QR code.

Scanning of the QR code on the electronically generated letters redirects to BIS website which enables verification to establish authenticity of the letter. The grant letters are now system generated based on the data entered by applicants at the time of submission of their online requests and will be available promptly.

The move will hav a positive impact on the environment by saving paper.
