Bhopal model held by 'lover' finally rescued

Bhopal: A woman who was held hostage at her house by a 30-year-old man in Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal was finally rescued on Friday evening.

The man identified as Rohit Singh, who is from Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh, had held a woman hostage claiming that he loves her and wanted to marry her.

"We have rescued the girl, her condition is stable, she has been sent for medical treatment," police said.

Cops also said that the man has been sent for medical treatment.

Singh entered the apartment at Fortune City with a gun, took the woman hostage and threatened to kill her as well as himself. The woman's parents were also inside the house and they were locked in one of the rooms in the fifth-story flat.

The woman reportedly met Singh while she doing some modelling assignments in Mumbai.

She had returned to Bhopal two months back.

Earlier when police tried to barge in, the accused threatened them. "He (accused) claims that he loves her and wants to marry. He had asked us for a stamp paper and mobile charger," police said.

"When I reached Bhopal, a police complaint was filed against me. They harassed me, tortured me which is why I took this step," said Rohit speaking to new channel.

"If the crowd outside the door was not there, I would have come out a lot earlier," he added.
