Abducted J&K policeman found dead in Kulgam

Srinagar: The body of the police constable who was abducted by militants from his residence in Kulgam district in Jammu and Kashmir, has been found, a police official said on Saturday. Constable Saleem Shah, who was on leave, was abducted by militants from his residence in the Mutalhama area of Kulgam district in south Kashmir on Friday night, he said.

A case has been registered and efforts are underway to nab the killers of the constable, he added. Meanwhile, militants on Saturday opened fire on security forces at two places in Anantnag and Kulgam districts of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.

In the first attack, the militants fired upon the security forces at the Bamzoo area of Mattan in south Kashmir's Anantnag district, a police official said. He said the attack was repulsed by the forces and there was no loss of life. In the second incident, the militants attacked a patrolling party of the Army between Hawoorah and Redwani villages in Kulgam district, the official said.
