‘My Delhi I Care’ plan gets a Rs 50-lakh

In a major fillip to development as per local needs, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Saturday announced that the district annual fund for development, as per priorities of RWAs under 'My Delhi I Care', would be enhanced by Rs 50 lakh.

Dikshit stated that Bhagidari Yojana under Delhi government has facilitated improvement in civic services and speedy development in colonies.

According to sources, apart from this, people have been involved in decision making processes as well.

Meanwhile, Dikshit added that Dilshad Garden RWA was the best RWA in Delhi and it should inspire other RWAs to perform better.

Dikshit expressed these views while addressing a function organised to open a Mother Dairy Booth at Dilshad Colony in Trans-Yamuna area.

A new Mother Dairy Booth at a cost of Rs 12 lakh has been constructed at the 50-year-old Dilshad Colony. Earlier, the residents of the colony were forced to buy their milk products from the booth a kilometre away.

However, RWA took up the matter for allotment of land for Mother Dairy with Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), but could not succeed in getting allotment.

Later, Bhagidari Cell in the Office of Chief Minister facilitated allotment for the booth.

Dikshit also inaugurated installation of CCTVs cameras in colonies at the cost of Rs 1.5 lakh in order to keep a check on antisocial elements. Recording of these camera would be maintained and monitored by Delhi police under Bhagidari Yojana.

A resident of the area, SS Goel, said, 'We are happy to have a Mother Dairy here finally as it was a long pending demand from the residents of the colony. In addition, CCTVs have also been installed for our safety and we are happy with this development.'

Under Bhagidari Yojana, a number of milestones have been achieved in providing basic amenities such as water, sewer, road and streetlights. A number of agencies like Bhagidari Cell, Delhi Jal Board, MCD, BSES and Delhi Police were involved in the improvement of the services.

Dikshit also presented awards to nodal officers of agencies concerned and departments for their outstanding contribution.
