Morphed photos of Trinamool Congress leader used on social networking site

Some unidentified persons posted morphed photographs of Trinamool Congress candidate from Dinhata Assembly constituency Udayan Guha after creating a fake account in a social networking site.

The fake account in the social networking site was by the name “TMC Dinhata” and a person having an account by the name “Banalata Sen” had posted comments on the morphed photographs for allegedly defaming Guha.

Guha said: “That was an old photograph which has been morphed using the modern technologies and software. After the photograph was posted someone using a fictitious account by the name Banalata Sen posted a comment that I am a traitor.”

“I had lodged a complaint with the Dinhata police station and spoke to the SDPO here,” he added.

The police said that the morphed photograph has been deleted soon after it came to the notice. The task to identify the accused has also been started.

The Cyber Crime cell of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has been contacted.

“We are hopeful that the accused will be identified soon and necessary legal actions will be taken against the person,” a police officer said. Guha said: “This is unfortunate as someone is trying to defame me and I work restless for the benefit of the people.”

He further said: “Failing to stop me to gain popularity and support of the people, the Opposition are trying to level various allegations on me. It seems they have turned mad after realising that people will cast their votes in our favour.”
