Modi to visit West Bengal on February 21

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit West Bengal on February 21. During his visit, Modi will also lay foundation stones of certain projects.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will also be present during the programme. It is learnt that the Prime Minister will also visit Sagar Island to lay the foundation stone of a deep sea port.

The Prime Minister’s visit ahead of the Assembly elections here has turned out to be a cause of concern for the state BJP leaders. The reason being Banerjee’s presence in the dais from where Modi will lay foundation stones of different development works will give mileage to Trinamool Congress ahead of the elections. At the same time, there was nothing in the schedule of Modi which shows that he will be present in any programme for the party. Thus the state BJP leaders have urged the top brass of the party to arrange a meeting where Modi may meet members of the newly formed state committee or at least address a political rally for the workers.

It may be mentioned that the Chief Minister was also present at a programme attended by Modi in Bangladesh in June 2015.
