MMTC’s Festival of Gold

Gold has always been a precious gem for everyone and MMTC’s Festival of Gold has added on spark to it. The festival was inaugurated by AK Bhalla, Additional Secretary of Ministry of Commerce on May 6 and will continue till May 10 in the national Capital.

The lustre of the glittering event was further enhanced by the visit of celebrated model and Femina Miss India International 2011, Ankita Shorey on Saturday. She spoke about her jewel inspirations and expressed her delight at being able to visit the one-of-its-kind festival.

One of the highlights at the Festival of Gold this year is the Indian gold coin, the first ever national gold offered by the Government of India. MMTC (Metals and Minerals Trading Corporation of India) launched the Indian gold coin, now being retailed through the Company’s outlet and Indian Overseas bank branches across India. Soon, it will also be available through India Post and other bank branches across India.

Ved Prakash, CMD, MMTC, said, “It is our endeavour to encourage consumers to choose the Indian gold coin as their preferred purchase by offering it at IOB branches and our own retail outlets across 31 cities in India”. To beat the rising heat, city residents are getting their hands on one of the best studded jewellery from across the country. The grand exhibition-cum-sale by MMTC, has returned to fulfil popular demand on the occasion of Akshay Tritiya. They present a hand-picked collection of jewels from ten states of India, gold and silver medallions in the 999 purity and latest range of Sanchi silverware.

The traditional and cultural appeal of gold, combined with its strong fundamentals, remains central to millions of Indian households.
