Mitra not to move court to clear home address goof up

Following Madan Mitra’s recovery, his counsels have decided not to move the court seeking permission for him to go home. They had earlier decided to seek permission for the aforementioned
There was a goof up at the court as Mitra’s counsels mistakenly mentioned that Mitra’s house falls under Bhawanipore police station, whereas it actually falls under the Kalighat police station. As the court had instructed Mitra to stay inside the Bhawanipore police station area, Mitra had to remain restricted within the same. As a result of this, he had to check into a hotel on Elgin road falling under the Bhawanipore police station.

Mitra fell ill on early Sunday morning after which his family members rushed to the hotel where the former minister has been currently staying following a court’s directive. As he was complaining about stomach pain and breathlessness, a doctor was called in and he was administered injection.

The former transport minister’s condition has improved but he is still under medication. The doctor has advised him to take complete bed rest. On the other hand, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) may move the Calcutta High Court challenging the lower court’s decision. The CBI’s counsels were preparing their strategy as to how to move the court against the Mitra’s bail. They might stress on the same theory that Mitra is an influential person without a portfolio as he is an integral part of the ruling party in the state and hence, he could easily influence the witnesses in this connection.

The Alipore Court, on Friday, granted bail to Mitra following which Mitra was released from Alipore central correctional home on Saturday. The Court had granted him bail after his counsels
convinced the court that there was no development in the CBI’s investigation.
