‘Misuse of beacons menace to society’

Terming it as a ‘menace to society’, the Supreme Court on Monday came down heavily on the misuse of beacon lights and multi-tone horns or sirens by vehicles on public roads. ‘No one apart from high ranking dignitaries, ambulance, police and military should be using them,’ a Supreme Court bench of justices GS Singhvi and V Gopala Gowda said. ‘All unauthorised use of beacon on vehicles and multi-tone horn should be dealt with heavy hand and exemplary fine should be imposed on violators,’ the top court said.
