Miscreants break into South 24 Parganas’ high school

A gang of miscreants on late Wednesday night broke open a window grill of a school in South 24 Parganas and looted valuables, computers and some documents from an almirah.

The incident occurred at Mukta Keshi Gourmohan Das High School under Joynagar police station triggering tension among the students and staff members. Police said that miscreants cut the iron grill of a window and entered into a room. The security guard of the school Abani Pal came to know that some miscreants entered into the school building and rushed to the spot. 

But the miscreants easily over powered the security guard and threatened him with dire consequences. They went on rampage, ransacking the documents which were there inside an almirah. The accused put a gun on the head of the security guard. After being informed, the police reached the school on Thursday morning and started a probe into the incident. Police are also investigating if it was an incident of sabotage. The security guard was also interrogated. Police said that some office equipment were stolen.

In a separate incident, North 24-Parganas police have arrested a dreaded criminal from Bashirhat and recovered ganja weighing around 27 kg. Acting on a tip off, senior police officers raided a house at Rajib Colony and arrested the accused Lokenath Chowdhury.
