Miniature Durga: 1.75 inch wide, less than an inch tall

An artist in West Bengal’s Nadia district has created the smallest Durga idol of this season!

A weaver by profession, Manik Debnath thought of creating a miniature Durga idol. Thus, using paper pulp, dye and adhesive, he created a Durga idol which is just 1.75 <g data-gr-id="24">inch</g> wide and less than an inch tall.
Another fascinating feature of this idol is that it weighs just 2 grams! Manik says, he always wanted to make an idol with a difference and that’s why the idea of a miniature Durga.

“Since childhood I’ve making miniature paintings. I’ve been making miniature Durga idols for the past eight years. This year again I’ve created a new idol,” says Manik.

With all the glitz and glamour of Durga puja in Kolkata, Manik says, it would be good if village artisans like him also got to show their talent on a larger platform.
