Matribhumi case: GRP records statements of daily passengers

Government Railway Police (GRP) have started the investigation within 48 hours of the incident in which a man, identified as Dipak Sharma, died after being allegedly pushed out from the running Matribhumi local train.

The railway police on Thursday video recorded the statements of those daily passengers who were present when the incident took place.

On the other hand, the woman constable Rajanigandha Naskar, who is still admitted at BR Singh Hospital, was questioned by two GRP women officials after her health condition improved.

Meanwhile, Rajanigandha’s husband Dipak Naskar, after talking to her at hospital, said his wife was innocent as she was not present at the same gate of the train from where the middle-aged man fell out and died on the spot.

After Tuesday’s incident, the victim’s family members have lodged a complaint against the woman constable.

According to police, an eyewitness said Sharma was in an inebriated state when the incident took place. An officer said police will take action after getting the investigation report.
