Manish Tewari says sorry, Gadkari drops defamation case

On 10 November, 2010, Tewari, as a spokesperson of the Congress party, had made a statement at a press conference, claiming that Gadkari owned a flat in the Adarsh Society. Reacting strongly over Tewari’s comment, Gadkari filed the defamation case in December, 2010 claiming that his allegations are false and defamatory. Last month, a local court has taken cognizance of his (Gadkari) complaint and ordered necessary court proceedings against Tewari.

Tewari in his apology letter submitted before the court of additional chief metropolitan magistrate, Mumbai, has mentioned that, ‘I state that in future, I will never put you in disrepute by making any comments with regard to the Adarsh Society.’

‘I state that, after perusal of the newspaper reports regarding the judicial commission appointed to investigate the Adarsh Society scam, it reveals that you have not played any role or you have any concern of whatsoever nature with the scam,’ his letter reads.
