Mamata to unveil solar lights at 100 schools in N 24-Parganas

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will inaugurate the installations of solar lights at 100 schools in North 24-Parganas during a programme in Haj Tower on Thursday. The solar lights have come up at an estimated cost of Rs 6 crore. It may be mentioned that Banerjee, after coming to power, had taken a special drive to install eco-friendly solar lights across the state. Solar lights have been installed in a large scale in Sunderbans. Many schools in the city and villages in adjoining South 24- Parganas have been lit up with solar lights. The state government has a plan to install the lights at 215 parks in the city and work in this direction has already been initiated. The Kolkata Municipal Corporation has taken an elaborate step to set up solar lights at parks. 

Banerjee is expected to launch a host of new projects at the programme. It was learnt that Banerjee will lay the foundation stone of a bus terminal at Naihati and also launch a beautification drive along Sethpukur pond in Barasat. 

According to sources, the estimated cost of beautification will be around Rs 2 crore. Apart from this, Banerjee will also inaugurate three motels in Bongaon and Basirhat sub-division for tourists. She will also inaugurate various roads that have been widened and strengthen for better movement of traffic.
