Mamata inaugurates Kamal Gazi flyover

Chief Minister Mamata  Banerjee on Wednesday inaugurated a flyover at Kamal Gazi in South 24-Parganas. Banerjee had inaugurated the flyover during a programme on Red Road, while state Ureban Development Minister Firhad Hakim had cut the ribbon at Kamal Gazi.

The flyover, which was built at an estimated cost of Rs 100 crore, will solve traffic congestion in the area. Kamal Gazi is the gateway to South 24-Parganas including Sunderbans.

The residents witness traffic jams in the morning and evening peak hours as hundreds of vehicles from South 24-Parganas come to the city via Kamal Gazi and similarly vehicles including the heavy ones enter the town by using the same route. The inauguration of flyover will meet long-standing demand of people.

The KMDA has rehabilitated those whose house had to be pulled down to make room for the flyover.
Hakim said road connectivity was an important agenda of the state government.  He said work was on in all across the state to improve the highways. He hoped that traffic congestion in the area would be minimised because of the flyover.
