Mamata Banerjee inaugurates Minority Bhavan at Park Circus

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inaugurated the Minority Bhavan at Dr Biresh Guha Sarani, Park Circus on Tuesday. The office covers an area of 3,278 square feet which will house offices of the pension, government grants, health insurance and other emergency services to the minorities like its counterparts in the districts.

The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) is committed to provide better amenities to the minorities and improve their standard of living. It may be mentioned that because of the successful implementation of Kanyashree project, school drop-outs and early marriages in the minority community have been drastically reduced. Mamata Banerjee repeatedly said that West Bengal’s social fabric lies in communal harmony and any attempt to disturb this would be thwarted. Id-ul- Fitr and Rathayatra will be observed on the same day and she has urged all sections of people to observe the festivals with sanctity and maintain peace and harmony.

The office has been set up to ensure that citizens get the pension, health insurance and government grants in a hassle free manner. The work procedure of the office will be paperless and every data will be stored in the computers.
