Madhyamik examinee found unconscious

A Madhyamik candidate was found in an unconscious state at Gajal in Malda on Monday morning. The local residents spotted the girl lying on a road and they immediately took her to a primary health centre. 

Police said the girl, Chumki Mondal, a resident of Sagardighi area in Murshidabad fled from her house and was coming to Malda Town station. 

On her way, she met with an unidentified youth at Katubari area of Gajal. The youth gave her spiked food and she fell unconscious after having it. The accused looted valuables from the girl. 

Police said the girl got married to a 55-year-old man from the same village at Sagardighi few days ago. 

The girl told the police that the family members forced her to marry the middle-aged man. As she had been subjected to physical torture at her in-laws house, she fled from there Saturday night. 

In another incident, Anupama Paul, a resident of Shyampur in Howrah, was hit by a stick on her head by a youth for protesting against irregularities in MGNREGA project. 

The girl was taken in a nearby hospital from where she appeared for the examination. Police said Mihir Pramanik hit the girl with a stick when her uncle Souren Porel protested against some irregularities in the 100 days work at Deora village in Shyampur. Anupama is a student of a high school in Deora.
