If clubbing is your thing, Kolkata wouldn’t disappoint you. The city has a long history of accommodating people of various sorts. From club goers to live music lovers, it is the hub of late night entertainment. Although there is a surge in the popularity of live bands, a night out spent club hopping is not a rarity for Kolkatans.

Let us take a look at some of the happening nightclubs where Kolkatans can dance the night away. 

Roxy - 

Situated in the heart of Park Street, this club needs no introduction. Roxy is perhaps one of the few clubs in the city that people blindly rely on for their weekend fun. With a buzzing atmosphere, Roxy continues till 2 in the morning on Fridays and Saturdays and shuts at 12.30 on the other days. 

From Bollywood to hip hop, from EDM to trance- Roxy, the cocktail bar at The Park, Kolkata epitomises glamour and surely knows how to make people twirl the night away. Although this fancy place calls for a visit, it is a bit high on the pockets. The average cost for two persons is around Rs 2,500 (VAT extra). But hey the entry is free! And for ladies, the weekend can start early as it offers drinks ‘on the house’ every Thursday. 

The bar enlists 56 varieties of wines from the world over, both classic and contemporary. It includes daiquiris, margaritas, martinis and champagne cocktails amongst others and offers an exclusive cigar collection. Hence, anyone looking for a fun-filled weekend with groovy and foot tapping music, Roxy is the place to be. 

Nocturne - 

As the name suggests, Nocturne, located in Shakespeare Sarani, is one-of-a-kind nightclub. With a unique yet congenial ambience, Nocturne stands out to be the most happening place in the recent times. It offers an exceptionally diverse range of music to a friendly and warm crowd. On Fridays and Saturdays, Nocturne remains open till 2 in the morning. For Weekdays, the rules are slightly different as they prefer closing early. On Sundays and Wednesdays, they keep the door open till 1 in the morning and on the rest of the days, it shuts by 12.30 at night. 

While couples are charged Rs 1,500 for entry, individually people need to pay a minimal charge, depending on the day they choose to come in. Besides the awesome club scene, nocturne throws a wide range of juicy cocktails and food. The average cost for two is approximately Rs 2,000 (VAT and Taxes extra). So just the hit bar and the dance floor with your friends or better halves, without a second thought. 

Club Boudoir - 

The most exclusive club in Dubai comes to the city. Yes, Club Boudoir has opened its door in Calcutta at Theatre Road and oh boy its state-of-the-art decor is an absolute treat to the eyes. Inspired by French lounge concept, boudoir started off in Dubai in 2002. 

Lying at the crossing of Shakespeare Sarani and Rowdon Street to the left, this club not only attracts people because of its extravagance and glamour but it also exhibit qualities of elegance, class, and simplicity. Although the club allows guests from 6 in the evening, the party mood sets in after 9 at night. On weekends, the party drops at 2 in the morning and shuts at 12.30 on other days. 

With extraordinary service and qualities, come the glitzy prices. While both entry fee and cover charge are set at Rs 1,000 each, cover charges are redeemable. However, this is only for couples. For individual entry, these prices vary depending on the day and the number of people comes in. And ladies hop in on Thursdays, for unlimited drinks from 8pm to 11pm. In case you’re hungry, you should know that the average cost for two is around Rs 1,500 excluding VAT and taxes. 

So if you make sure this place is packed every night of the week, you will know why Boudoir is a truly unforgettable experience.

M Bar Kitchen - 

Now coming to the most talked-about club in the town – M Bar Kitchen, situated in Park Street (Close to Loreto house and college), not only gets you high with trippy music and juicy cocktails but also by serving finely seasoned food. 

With an upscale ambience and super classy crowd, M Bar Kitchen can never let you down. The club hosts some of the top notch DJs every weekend. To get some taste of the madness which continues till 2 in the morning on weekends, people should go post 8pm. 

With regard to the entry fee, couples are charged Rs 2000 on Fridays and Rs 3000 on Saturdays. But hey don’t worry, the entire amount is redeemable. Individual entry fee varies as it’s on the club to decide who to let in. Sorry to disappoint because there is no ladies night in here.  Apart from weekends, one can walk in anytime and enjoy the fine dining with a couple of drinks. The average cost for two would be around Rs 1,600 (VAT extra). 

With its own style and atmosphere, playing some of the best music to keep your weekend vibe intact, this place makes you feel relaxed. So, just go as weekend and winter are here. 

Privy Ultra Lounge - 

Situated in the Forum Mall, the cosy ambience and dim lighting of the club make it all worthwhile. With a unique space, offering mouth-watering dishes and an extensive list of beautiful cocktails, Privy Ultra lounge should definitely be on the list of your must visit clubs.

Unlike other clubs, Privy closes at 1 in the morning during weekends and at 12 on rest of the days. The cover charge is set at Rs 500 and provides unlimited drinks for ladies on Fridays. The music will eventually dissolve into the more trendy sounds, upping the volume and tempo as the evening turns into night.

So, either drop in for some enthralling musical experience or to enjoy a special occasion on weekends. Privy is also easy on the pockets. The average cost for two is Rs 1,200 with alcohol (VAT extra). To make the most of what Privy Ultra has to offer, drop in early with your friends or whoever you desire. 

The Myx - 

Yet another fancy nightclub in Park Street. Storming with success since its establishment, the Myx will light up your party mood and win your heart. The club comes thumping with DJs, modern edge decor, and a signature cocktail menu. 

It is an ideal space to chill over food and drinks. Although the doors are open from 8 in the evening, people start to pour in mostly after 9 and dance their night away till the early hours of dawn. On weekends, it remains open till 2 in the morning and keeping in line with the general work schedule, it shuts as early as 12 on other days. 

With a cover charge of Rs 2000 for couples and stags entry being prohibited, this place could be a little problematic. And sorry ladies, there’s no drinks on the house. Nonetheless, it calls for at least one visit which would eventually turn into many. You can also hop in for munchy finger food and a couple of beers. The average cost for two is approximately Rs 2000 including VAT and taxes. 

PS - This place rocks on weekends so don’t forget to put your dancing shoes on! 

UG Reincarnated - HHI  

Here’s another, perhaps one of the oldest clubs the city has witnessed. Situated at the luxurious five star Hotel Hindustan International, Underground Reincarnated gives you the correct weekend vibes. It is a club where comfort meets elegance. The fantastically simple yet charming interiors of the club accompanied with foot tapping music, delicious finger food and a list of exotic cocktails, makes it one of the most happening clubs in town. 

As likely as the other ones, party starts post 9 pm although guests are welcome by 7. During weekends, you can carry on partying till 2 and for the rest of the days, by 12 o’ clock, one has to pack up and leave. The redeemable cover charge is around Rs 2,000 per couple and ladies take note, drinks are ‘on the house’ on Wednesdays. Known for its delightful finger food and drinks, the average cost for two is around Rs 1300. 

So set a plan and land at their doorstep, trip and dance the weekend away before Monday comes back to haunt you.
