Will convert Mamata's popularity into votes: TMC

Kolkata: The Trinamool Congress will convert the unquestioned popularity of party supremo Mamata Banerjee in the ballot box.

This will be the poll strategy of the party for the 2021 Assembly election.

The party's performance in the recently held three

by-elections has proved that there is no substitute for Mamata Banerjee at the moment.

The Trinamool Congress has won the Kharagpur Sadar by-election along with Kaliagunj and Karimpur. It is for the first time that the party has won the Kharagpur Sadar and Kaliagunj seats.

The party leaders believe that along with 'Didi Ke Bolo' which has helped the party to build direct contact with the masses, the work of the party leaders to fight the by-election together burying hatchets have brought success to the party.

The leaders consider the victory in the by-elections as a major boost for the party's rank and file. However, there is no place for complacency and the workers from the booth levels up to the districts have been asked to carry on with the drives to build contact with the people.

It has been learnt that around 20 lakh people have got in touch with the party through 'Didi Ke Bolo' programme. Many of these have contacted the party just to convey thanks for taking up such an appropriate move since the inception of the scheme on July 29, 2019. Trinamool leaders and workers have visited and spent nights in around 6,000 villages.
