Water supply to be hampered in South Kolkata on December 7

Kolkata: The supply of filtered water in vast areas of South Kolkata and southern suburbs will be affected on December 7, due to necessary repair work at Garden Reach Water Works.

However, attempts have been made to ensure normal supply of filtered water from December 8 morning.

On December 7, the morning supply of filtered water till 9.30am will be as usual but the afternoon and evening supplies will be suspended due to installation and repairing of valves and other maintenance work.

As a result, supply of filtered water from the booster stations at Kalighat, Ranikuthi, Garfa, Chetla, Golf Green, Layelka, Behala, Siriti, Daspara, Bansdroni, Gandhi Maidan, Senpally, Prafulla Park and Parnashree will be affected.

Almost all the southern suburbs and parts of South Kolkata will be affected. The affected areas will be Kalighat and its neighbourhood, Chetla, Behala, Jadavpur, Maheshtala, Budge Budge, Garden Reach and Tollygunge.

Senior officials of Kolkata Municipal Corporation said the maintenance work at Garden Reach Water Works has been long overdue.
