Two sleaze rackets busted, 20 held

Kolkata: In two separate incidents, sleaze rackets have been busted from Jadavpur in the city and Diamond Harbour in South 24-Parganas on Thursday. Altogether, 20 persons including women have been arrested in two incidents.
In the first incident, police busted a sleaze racket at a flat in Jadavpur on Thursday morning and arrested 8 persons including two women for their alleged involvement in running the racket.
The anti-women trafficking department of the city police raided an apartment on Kali Bari lane in Jadavpur and arrested the accused.
Among the accused, there were two men who are believed to be the customers. A couple was found in a compromising situation inside a room.
According to police, the racket has been operating from a rented flat for quite sometime. Police said among the arrested there were sex workers.
According to preliminary investigation, police came to know that one person had rented the flat. Some of the policemen went to the flat, posing as prospective customers and caught the accused red-handed.
They have started a case under the Immoral Trafficking Act. It is suspected that many others are also involved in the incident.
Police have seized liquor bottles, contraceptives and some hard cash from the room.
In the other incident, South 24-Parganas police have arrested 12 persons including four minor girls who were involved in the racket operated from a hotel at Diamond Harbour.
Acting on a tip off, a team of police raided a hotel and arrested the accused from the hotel rooms.
