Trinamool leader shot at in Madhyamgram

Kolkata: A Trinamool Youth Congress leader was shot on Monday night at Madhyamgram. The victim, identified as Binod Singh, was rushed to a private hospital in Barasat, where he is undergoing treatment. According to sources, on Monday night at around 9 pm, Singh along with some Trinamool workers was sitting inside the Ward number 8 party office near Madhyamgram Chowmatha.

All of a sudden, three miscreants riding a bike came to the spot and started firing bullets. One of the bullets glanced past Singh's head. When he fell down, the miscreants started hurling bombs and fled. A Trinamool worker identified as Dipak Basu was injured due to the hurling of bombs.

Hearing the sound of gunfire, local residents ran to spot and found Singh lying in a pool of blood. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Barasat, where he has been admitted. Later, police went to the spot and started a probe.
