Street children observe Bhai Phonta

Kolkata: Around 200 street children were given Bhai Phonta near Sovabazar Sutanuti Metro station on Friday.

The programme was organised by Medical Bank.

The street children were given new clothes and boxes of sweets. D Ashis, general secretary of Medical Bank said the children garlanded the pictures of great personalities and freedom fighters before the beginning of Bhai Phonta. "This was done to create an awareness about our history and tradition," he said.

It may be mentioned that Medical Bank gives new clothes to the AIDS patients who are admitted to School of Tropical Medicine (STM) before the pujas. It had also launched Save Drive Safe Life programme through kite flying and urged people to donate blood during the festive season when there is scarcity of blood.
