Soon, more buses to connect Kolkata with other cities

Kolkata: With heavy inundation in North Bengal, the state Transport department has taken a move to increase the number of buses connecting Kolkata with different parts of North Bengal.
Suvendu Adhikari, the state Transport minister, took the initiative following the directions of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
North Bengal State Transport Corporation (NBSTC) has increased the number of buses connecting Siliguri and Kolkata by 14. In place of six, there will 20 buses moving back and forth to connect the city with Siliguri on a daily basis from Wednesday.
Special permits were being issued by operators of private buses to ply 68 buses instead of 17 from Siliguri to Kolkata and vice-versa.
Number of buses plying from Raiganj to Kolkata has been increased from 10 to 14, the service between Cooch Behar and Kolkata has been increased to 10 from four. In addition, there will be 12 buses in place of eight plying between Balurghat and Kolkata, etc.
NBSTC is preparing to increase the number of buses in the critical route of Malda-Dalkhola-Kishangunj-Siliguri. A central help desk at Esplanade L20 Bus Terminus has been set up by NBSTC to cater information on both private and state-run buses. Similar help desks will be available at Tenzing Norgay Bus Terminus.
