Science City accident: Case handed over to Fatal Squad section

Kolkata: The Science City accident case has been handed over to the Fatal Squad Traffic Police section on Monday. Sources informed that the sleuths may soon contact the manufacturer of the car, to figure out the speed of the vehicle at the time of the accident.

According to sources, every high-end sophisticated vehicle has a data recording system, which records the activity of the car. In case of any accident, the data gathering stops immediately after the vehicle hits any object.

In the case of actor Bikram Chatterjee's accident, sleuths had checked the data record system through the car's manufacturing company. In this case too, police may act in the same way. Sleuths will try to know the speed at which the vehicle was moving, when a drunken Aditi Agarwal hit Harimohan Ram near Milan Mela Ground.

Agarwal will be produced before Alipore Court on Tuesday, after completion of 2 day police remand. Sleuths may appeal for further police remand, if necessary for investigation.

Agarwal was coming from Park Circus towards Eastern Metropolitan Bypass, to reach her home near Phoolbagan on Sunday morning.

Near Milan Mela Ground she hit Ram and tried to flee. But due to some problem with the vehicle, she got stuck. When police personnel asked Agarwal to step out of the vehicle, they found her heavily drunk.

When Agarwal tried to speak, the officers understood that she was not in a condition to either speak or stand. Later, her blood alcohol level was checked using a breath analyser, which proved that it was much higher than the permissible limit.
