RKM chief inaugurates charitable dispensary-cum-diagnostic centre

Kolkata: Swami Smarananandaji, president of Ramakrishna Math and Mission, inaugurated a charitable dispensary with state-of-the-art diagnostic centre at Ramakrishna Math Yogodyan in Kankurgachi.

The three-storey building has been built to commemorate the 125h anniversary of Swami Vivekananda's speech at the World Parliament of Religions held at Chicago in 1893.

The Yogodyan Math has been running a charitable dispensary for quite some time but the space allotted for the dispensary became small with the increasing volume of patients. Hence, a new building with a diagnostic centre was planned to set up. The diagnostic centre has been set up so that patients who come to the dispensary perform various tests at minimal costs. It will take nearly a month for the diagnostic centre to become functional. A special puja was held in the morning. Swami Smaranandaji cut the ribbon to inaugurate the centre.

Sri Ramakrishna had visited the Kankurgachi garden house of his disciple Ramchandra Dutta, who was a demonstrator of Anatomy at the Calcutta Medical College

and Hospital.

Later, it became a centre of Belur Math. The locality, around the Math in Kankurgachi, is inhabited by people coming from economically challenged background and the dispensary cum diagnostic centre will be of great help to them.
