One dead & 3 hurt in 3 fire incidents

Kolkata: A woman died and a few people suffered minor burn injuries in the city on Sunday. According to sources, Sanchari Devi, 60, wife of late Babulal Ram and resident of Hooghly Jute mill Colony on G R Road, lost her life after her shanty caught fire at 2:10 pm.

According to police, she immolated herself and allegedly committed suicide. She was rushed to SSKM hospital where she was declared brought dead.

However, no suicide note recovered and investigation is underway. At 3.30 am, a fire broke out in a road side toy shop at R.B.Avenue under Gariahat Police Station area. A fire tender was pressed into service to douse the fire.

While no report of human injury was reported, the toy shop was damaged.

At 12.50 pm, another fire broke out due to short circuit in the first floor of a five-storied residential building at Subhash Park near Bansdroni metro station under Bansdroni Police Station area.

Two fire tenders were deployed to bring the fire under control.

There is no report of any injury. About 11.05 am, a fire broke out on the ground floor of a building at Brindaban Garden Mullick 1st Lane under the Amherst Street Police Station area.

The fire occurred due to leakage of LPG Cylinder.

A fire engine immediately reached at the spot and extinguished it. According to sources, no one was reported during the fire accident. However, the situation was brought under control within a few minutes.
