Officer from Cyber Crime Police Station bags best cyber cop award

Kolkata: An officer from Cyber Crime Police Station at Lalbazar has been adjudged the best cyber cop of the country for successful investigation of cyber crime cases.

Cyber Crime Police Station at Lalbazar has also been recognised as the second best in India in terms of capacity building, both in the area of workforce development as well as augmentation of cyber tools, anticipating the challenges of combating modern cyber crime.

Inspector Akshay Kumar Saha's achievement deserves special mention as the participants included all the cyber law-enforcement agencies of the country, including National Investigation Agency (NIA), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and others.

The recognition came in the form of Annual Excellence Award at the highly prestigious DSCI Annual Security Summit, held in Gurugram from December 4 to 6. Data Security Council of India (DSCI), a premier body of the country under the umbrella of NASSCOM, is engaged in making cyberspace safe and secure by encouraging best practices on the cyber platform.

The Annual Excellence Award is the result of its efforts to publicise the role of India's law-enforcement agencies in the prevention and detection of cyber crime and to recognise and appreciate their attempts at overall capacity building.

Rajeev Kumar, Commissioner of Police, felicitated Inspector Saha and Inspector Santanu Chatterjee, OC Cyber Crime Police Station on Wednesday in presence of Praveen Kumar Tripathi, Joint Commissioner of

Police (Crime).

It may be mentioned that Kolkata Police is planning to develop the infrastructure of a cyber crime cell in each of the nine police divisions to tackle the growing number of complaints of cyber fraud cases especially from women. Now, there is only one such cell for the entire city — the Cyber Crime Police Station.
