Now, get Netaji's life, work in DVDs; to be launched on 122nd birth anniv

Kolkata: A DVD containing a narration in English by Krishna Basu, academician and former Trinamool Congress MP on the life and work of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, the first-of-its-kind will be released on the occasion of Netaji's 122nd birth anniversary on January 23.

The DVD will be formally released at Netaji Bhawan on January 21 in presence of Professor Leonard Gordon, the renowned American biographer of Netaji, and Masayuki Taga, the Consul-General of Japan in Kolkata, Sugata Bose and Krishna Bose.

The DVD has been prepared by Bhavna Records and Cassettes.

Krishna Bose (88), who is the chairperson of the Netaji Research Bureau, has vividly narrated the leader's life from his childhood in Cuttack until the struggle waged under his leadership as Supreme Commander of the Indian National Army from 1943 to 1945.

Krishna Bose describes the most dramatic episodes of Netaji's life in lucid prose: his escape from Calcutta in 1941with the help of Krishna's husband, Sisir Kumar Bose, and his three-month journey on a submarine in 1943 from Europe to East Asia.

Krishna Bose recounts how the final war of India's freedom movement, waged by Netaji and the INA, had its impact on the Indian independence in 1947. Her narration is enriched by many photographic images from the archives of the Netaji Research Bureau. This DVD is a befitting gift to the nation, especially India's young people, in the 75th anniversary year of Netaji's proclamation of the Provisional Government of Free India in Singapore.

As the narration is in English, it will also be accessible to the Indian diaspora and to non-Indians.
