Nimta murder: Two more arrested

Kolkata: Two more youths were detained by the police in connection with the Nimta murder case on Monday morning.

Sources claimed that one of the detained youths is suspected to have supplied the murder weapon. Till Monday night the police failed to locate the weapon which was used to shoot Debanjan Das on October 7 night.

According to sources, the police came to know that two youths who were seen in the incident spot after Debanjan was shot. During checking the whereabouts of Bishal Maru and Prince Singh, who were held earlier, the police found that they were frequently in touch with two youths, identified as Sandip Das and Abhijit Mondal.

Das and Mondal were detained. Though the police refused to comment on the case, sources claimed that investigating officials suspect that one of the youths had supplied the murder weapon. The police are at present interrogating them to recover the murder weapon.

Apart from the detention of two youths, the police have found resemblance in statements of Maru and Singh with the opinion of forensic experts.

On the other hand on Monday Debanjan's father Arun Das expressed his displeasure about the investigation.

He stated that the Inspector in Charge (IC) of Nimta police station, Shibu Ghosh, who had refused to accept his complaint cannot conduct a fair inquiry. Arun on Monday demanded removal of Ghosh immediately.
