Kolkata: Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Eastern Zone has nabbed a person from English Bazar in Malda and seized 850 grams of heroin from his possession. Sources informed that the drug was about to be delivered by someone there, which would have been sent to Bangladesh later.

According to NCB sleuths, they had recently got a tip-off that a racket is actively dealing in several drugs in North Dinajpur. Based on the tip-off, sleuths started gathering intelligence from the Domkal area of North Dinajpur. During the cover survey, NCB came to know that the racket is operating through South Dinajpur and Malda as well. Racketeers use the said corridor to deliver the drugs to Bangladesh.

Recently, sleuths came to know that one Suman Das was the leader of the racket in Domkal. Based on the information, sleuths were keeping a vigil on Das. On Tuesday, when he went to English Bazar with 850 grams of heroin, sleuths followed him there.

After waiting for some time, no one came to receive the heroin worth Rs 2 lakh approximately. When Das was about to go away, NCB sleuths surrounded him. During search, a packet full of heroin was seized from him.

According to NCB, the source of the drug was Dalkhola, Uttar Dinajpur and the destination was Kaliachak primarily. From there, it would have been smuggled to Bangladesh. Sleuths are also searching his house and other places for more clues.
