Mitra bats for use of AI, machine learning in MSMEs

Kolkata: Calling for the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning for the MSMEs, state Finance and Industry minister Amit Mitra on Thursday urged IT industry body NASSCOM to come out with AI-based solutions. "Sectors of public interest like health, education, and small businesses can have AI and machine learning based solutions," Mitra said while addressing NASSCOM's international SME meet at Biswa Bangla Convention Centre. "Applications like sowing, timing management, students management and traffic management can also be taken up," Mitra maintained. He also touched upon the ills of AI and machine learning if not deployed judicially.

NASSCOM's first international SME Conclave saw around 600 SMEs across 40 cities and 18 states of the country.

Kamal Agarwal, chairman, NASSCOM SME council, said that India needs a sandbox approach in order to regulate emerging technological advancements which are disruptive.
