Launch services to be made operational throughout night

Kolkata: People who come to see the famous Durga Puja pandals in North Kolkata from Howrah will no longer need to travel by crowded buses.

The launch services will be made operational throughout the night so that people coming from various parts of Howrah can visit various puja pandals in North Kolkata without any difficulties. During the puja days, the city-bound buses generally remain overcrowded as a result of which many people face difficulties coming to the city. Keeping this in mind, it has been decided that the launch services between Howrah Bagbazar, Howrah Sovabazar, Howrah Ahiritola via Golabari will be available throughout the night. Generally this service is available till 8 pm. The visitors can opt for the launch services to avoid traffic congestion on roads. It would be a different experience for the pandal hoppers who would be able to travel along the Hooghly river on the launch at the dead of the night. It would be easier for the visitors from Howrah to reach different puja pandals during the five days of puja.

It was learnt that adequate security arrangements will be there at all the six launches which would ferry passengers during the night.
