Kolkata Poush Utsav to be inaugurated on Dec 23

Kolkata: Kolkata Poush Utsav will be inaugurated on December 23 and continue till December 30 in New Town. It will be kept open from 12 noon to 9pm on each day and entry will be free.

This was announced on Wednesday at Rabindra Tirtha, in presence of Debasish Sen, chairman of Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO), Anup Matilal, curator, Rabindra Tirtha, Chhatrapati Dutta, curator, Kolkata Poush Utsav, Paramita Banerjee of LINK UP, Amita Dutta of Rabindra Bharati University and danseuse Alokananda Roy.

The festival will feature 30 women entrepreneurs representing self-help groups from six districts. They are Birbhum, Howrah, Hooghly, South and North 24-Parganas, Nadia and West Midnapore.

Kolkata Poush Utsav will feature cultural programmes by folk artistes and celebrities like Soumitra Chatterjee, Alokananda Roy, Kartik Das Baul, Srijato and Rezwana Bonnya Choudhuri to name a few.

A display of fireworks will conclude the week-long celebration. Uniquely themed food pavilions will serve traditional delicacies, sweets and Christmas confectionaries at the event.
